Powder Filling Machine Senior Project

I had the pleasure to work on this project with a friend of mine for our senior project design course. The aim of this project is to automate the powder filling process. The goals of this project are accomplished using a combination of Arduino Nano & Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The system developed in this project is reliable, flexible, and precise. These are all features because of the PLC controlled mechanism. Arduino Nano is used to take control of the load sensor that gives analog data. Arduino Nano helps PLC in taking decision on the basis of weight data coming from load sensor. However, PLC controls the whole process. A PC based HMI is also included in the scope of this project. This HMI allows user to start the filling process through making a selection on screen. This project is capable to fill any type of powder or grains in the bottles. 24V DC gear motors are used in this project to run conveyor belt and screw-based filling mechanism. Overall, this automated system will help pharmaceutical industry in improving quality standards and reducing dependency on human resource.
